  • Make an extra batch (or two!) and reheat them all week long in the air fryer and they’ll be just like new!
  • Make a fresh and healthy switch from ordinary French fries to sweet potato fries, cut them thick, thin, rounds, or wedges!
  • Serve with air fryer pizza rolls, lemon pepper wings, or some main dish juicy hamburgers, all using the air fryer!
  • This fresh and fun recipe includes a sweet and spicy honey-chipotle dip that only takes 4 ingredients! Or omit the dip altogether and save a few calories!

Ingredients and Variations

SWEET POTATOES: Choose heavy, blemish-free sweet potatoes. In a pinch for time? Use a bag of frozen sweet potatoes (any shape will do)! Regular potato choices are Yukon Gold or Russets.

SEASONINGS: Instead of a sweeter sweet potato fry, use a zesty taco seasoning mix or a savory Italian seasoning mix, or just a little salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

DIP: Easiest dip ever! But use what’s on hand like sour cream in place of the yogurt, or maple syrup for the honey. Feel free to experiment!

How to Make Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

  1. Prep sweet potatoes as directed in the recipe below.
  2. Spray them with olive oil spray and cook half of them, stirring halfway through.
  3. Keep them warm in the oven while the other half is being cooked.
  4. Toss the cooked sweet potato fries in cinnamon sugar and serve as is or with dipping sauce.

Secrets for Success

  • Always preheat the air fryer for this recipe. The initial burst of hot air helps to seal the outside of the sweet potato fries, locking in a tender and fluffy interior while crisping up the outside!
  • Be sure to pat them dry so the seasoning can adhere properly.
  • For the crunchiest sweet potato fries, avoid overcrowding the air fryer. It’s best to cook them in stages and keep them warm in the oven.
  • Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat them in the air fryer as needed before serving.

Equipment

Ingredients

Sweet Potato Fries

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • olive oil spray
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Honey-Chipotle Dip

  • ½ cup plain greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon chipotle powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

Fries

  • Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into ¼” matchsticks. Place the fries into a bowl of ice water while you cut the remaining potatoes. Remove the fries from the water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Spray the potatoes lightly with olive oil spray. Place about half of the fries in the air fryer and cook them at 365°F for 12-15 minutes, stirring them halfway through cooking. Transfer the fries to a sheet pan and keep them warm in a 225°F oven while you cook the remaining fries.
  • Once the fries have cooked, toss them with the brown sugar and cinnamon and set aside until ready to serve.

Dip

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Store in the fridge until ready to use.

Notes

It’s extremely important not to crowd the sweet potato fries or you’ll end up with soggy French fries.
For extra crispy fries, turn the air fryer up to 385°F and cook the fries for 1-2 minutes, or until your desired crispness.
