Making roasted bell peppers in the air fryer is a fast and easy way to get tender-crisp, sweet, and smoky bell peppers for all kinds of recipes!
- Prep each bell pepper per recipe below.
- Toss pepper halves with oil and seasonings in a bowl or brush the mixture on.
- Place seasoned pepper halves cut side down in the air fryer and roast until they are tender and lightly charred, flipping halfway through.
- Cool before using. Leave the peel on or peel it away, as desired.
PRO TIP: For extra dark skins, broil the air-fried peppers cut-side down in the oven and set to broil for a couple of minutes.

Storing Roasted Bell Peppers
Keep leftover air fryer roasted bell peppers in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to a week. To freeze cooked and cooled bell peppers, cut them into wedges and freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Once frozen, transfer them to a zippered bag and freeze for up to 2 months.
Use leftover roasted red bell peppers in omelets, stir fries, or stuffed pepper soup.

Air Fryer Roasted Bell Peppers
Equipment
Ingredients
- 4 medium-large bell peppers any color desired
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper adjust to taste
Instructions
- Rinse and pat dry the bell peppers. Cut off stem, then slice pepper in half starting from the top to bottom. Slice off the pith with the seeds and set aside to continue doing the same with each pepper.
- In a large bowl combine the oil, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Place one or two pepper halves into the bowl with the oil mixture and use a spoon or a brush to coat both the inside and outside of the bell pepper half.
- Place in the air fryer tray upside down. Repeat until you have enough bell peppers to fit the air fryer’s tray. (Depending on the size of your air fryer you may need to do it in batches.)
- Air fry the peppers at 390°F for 8 minutes. Flip the halves over and cook for another 7 minutes. Peppers should be soft and have some browned or blackened spots.
- Remove from air fryer and allow to cool before using.
